The world of mini consoles just got that bit more exciting with the news that Sega’s 1993 coin op gets a Japanese release in mini arcade form Christmas 2020. This is according to Sega Toys, who dropped the bombshell regarding their new Astro City Mini arcade in an interview with Game Watch Impress Japan (which was quickly deleted from the site).
Apparently the mini arcade will ship with 36 classic Sega coin op games including these confirmed titles; Alien Syndrome, Alien Storm, Golden Axe, Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder, Columns II, Dark Edge, Puzzle & Action: Tant-R, Virtua Fighter, Fantasy Zone and Altered Beast.
Even as that line up stands, that would do just fine for us here at RGC towers and we can’t wait to hear what other titles will be included upon release or whether the mini arcade unit will get a release elsewhere.
The little arcade unit will retail at 12,800 yen which is currently around the £93 mark.
