Retro games – better than modern games?
Tue, Jul 28, 2009

The age old question asked by many a journalist in their quest to stir up controversy in the gaming community and get the resulting traffic/magazine sales. I personally think its all a load of b***ocks and a good game is a good game whether it was on the NES or on and Xbox 360. I enjoy playing on my 360 as much as I do blowing the dust off my vintage machines and firing them up.
If you agree or disagree we would like to hear from you, feel free to comment below on the neverending Retro vs Next-gen question…
Read an excellent article on this very subject over at Classy Gamer.

Leave it out, progress is about leaving the old crap behind. I don’t care if a game is good today, tomorrow there will be something better and that means today’s game will be history. Playing something from last year is bad enough, why on earth would you want to play anything older than that?
@F Nack thats a very narrow-minded view of videogames you have there, I think perhaps you strayed onto the wrong website, this one’s not really for you mate… anyone else?
On the whole I prefer retro gaming. I play the NES, SNES and N64 regularly whereas my PS2 gathers dust. Saying that- I do enjoy playing the modern consoles every so often. I own a Nintendo DS and am looking forward to Scribblenauts in particular. Comparing old and new is totally different. Games are just different now. Points, lives, boss levels- all aspects that have transformed over time. For the most part I prefer retro gaming though. I’d choose Super Mario Bros over Call of Duty any day.
I have never got into retro gaming, mostly on my 360 but i have to agree older games for older consoles seemed to be alot more fun that these of today.
I have been a gamer since I was 8 back on the Atari
Love the article.
