More crazy prices for another rare ZX Spectrum educational game

As I have reported before on several occasions, a number of Sinclair branded ZX Spectrum educational titles seem to command unusually high prices when sold online. Their rarity lies with the fact that although we all promised our parents that we wanted a computer for educational purposes, the reality was we all wanted to play games and the educational titles got left on the shelves. Add to that the fact that they weren’t produced in any great numbers anyway and you end up with something pretty scarce. That being said, nothing prepared me for the auction listing I stumbled across recently.

The auction in question is for a rare Macmillan educational title called Spellbox, which I’ve seen go for upwards of £100 on a few occasions now. The seller in this instance is asking a whopping £499.99 for the very same title. Perhaps he or she has read my previous posts and feels lucky. Perhaps they are just delusional. I just hope that no-one out there is crazy enough to part with that much money for what is frankly a crappy game aimed at 5-8 year olds, where you play noughts and crosses whilst forming words.

The auction listing mentions that the LCD screen is not included. At that price it ought to be.
